Helicopters are a vital service in the Top End where it would take weeks or months on the back of a horse or bike to bring in thousands of head of stock.
Aerial stock mustering is a specialised operation useing aircraft to locate, direct & concentrate livestock. Helicopter mustering is use to complement traditional mustering techniques using horses & motorcycles and is cost effective to soley ground based mustering. It is not just the sheer size which makes helicopter mustering so vital, its also the terrain. The Kimberley is criss crossed by plunging gorges, towering escarpments & croc infested rivers & that means conventional mustering is virtually impossible.
Mustering is conducted in Robinseon R22 helicopters which are light, quick, economical, versatile and the most efficient helicopter on today's market.
Most of our mustering operations are conducted as a team operation with two or more helicopters on the job. Our pilots usually go out to the mustering location the evening before the muster to brief ground crews for a daylight start.
Lone Eagle also offers career opportunities and mustering training to pilots with cattle experience that are safety conscious, outgoing, self motivated and capable of thinking outside the square.
